I’m playing flugel with Brighouse and Rastrick this Saturday. We are doing two shows in Brighouse. John Lee (current B&R flugel player) has to be away and asked if I was interested in being his “dep”. He was willing to give me his instrument for the week so I said “Sure!”

Should be very interesting. I did bring my flugel mouthpiece to the UK but I didn’t expect to be playing it at all, much less with this much pressure. I am looking forward to the challenge.

Incidentally, John just released a beautiful CD of flugel solos he did with Boobs & Brass called “Whatever it takes….”

They are doing it as a breast cancer research fundraiser, and have already solo out of the original 1,000 CD printing. The CD is 18 “easy listening” tunes and I heard John do one of them when we played with Boobs & Brass 2 weekends ago. Beautiful. If you want a copy, all proceeds go to breast cancer research you can get them at 4 Bars Rest.
