Snow….a tale of two schools….

More snow last night which of course made the girls hopeful for a snow day.

This morning @ 6AM West Yorkshire had 5 schools closed.  By 6:30AM there were more then 100 closed.

At 7AM Hannah’s school was still listed as open so she took a shower, had breakfast, and put on her uniform.  By 7:30AM she was back in bed in her PJ’s as the woodwind and string players who make up the administration, faculty, staff, and students of Salendine Nook High School had decided to have a Snow Day.

@ 7:30AM we woke up Kate as the brass players who make up the administration, faculty, staff, and students of Moorlands Primary always show up for a day of learning.  And they’ll probably be outside for recess too!  Before we took the long walk to Kate’s school we gave her a couple of pieces of Hannah’s chocolate to sooth the pain of another day of school while her older sister sits home.  It helped, but didn’t stop the yelling about teenage weakness and social injustice.

Oh and those of you who know the insane person who is my wife Sarah, will understand when I say “Of course we ran home”.  It took us 35 minutes on the route that is usually 25 minutes.  Of course on days when it only takes 25 minutes she makes us add more bits to make it longer………. I think when we get back to the states her car needs a bumper sticker that says “I’d rather be running”.

Cheers,

B-

  1. Tell Kate I feel her pain. There were many days when Becky had a snow day and I didn’t. (So much for the brass toughness theory!)
